Add a CommentI started reading it and the storyline was interesting, and slowly i got into it, there's something about it that i can't put my finger on but it is definitely a good book. The story itself is amazing and i loved it and probably will forever! And of course history <3 much to learn that's the thing about books.
I had to read this book for a school assignment and do a big project on it. At first I was bored and confused about the storyline of the book. Also the wording is different than nowadays since it is set in 1682, so it is a little hard to understand. But, by chapter nine I started getting involved in the plot of the book and start to get intersted. After that chapter I could not put the book down. Something new happened on every page and you learn some history from the time period. I absoultely loved this book. I was very happy with the outcome at the end.
This favourite of mine is a timeless novel for all ages. I'm lucky I read it before reading the play "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller in English class. :)
As a Classic in the literature, this story holds up against all the fantasy and wizardry of today's novels. There is an easy history lesson to be had as well as lessons to be learned about rigid beliefs and prejudices. The three love stories that unfold provide just the right amount of warmth.
Though the book is a quick read, and depending on the copy you borrow/buy the print is also fairly large, it is an excellent read. I have read this book repeatedly over the years since 5th grade (I'm now a junior in HS) and every time not only does the friendship with Hannah and Prudence that Kit engages in bring a unconscious smile to my face, the bitterness with the brutality of Matthew Wood crease my brow, and the lingering almost unexpected feelings toward the sea-bound Nathaniel Eaton heat my cheeks; I find it hard to ever put the book down until the last page is turned no matter how many times I pick it up.
This book was very good and a very quick read. I really got the feel of what it was like for people in America during the 1600's.
I read this book nearly 30yrs ago and it is still one of my favorites.
This is just an incredible book! I loved it, and I bet you will too!
This is a classic story. I reread it every few years. I enjoy Kit, despite her reckless behavior. Kit and Nat are great characters and I love Hannah. This is a book that anyone can enjoy, showing the best and the worst of people.
I love this book! Definitely one of my favorites!
