I like that she's different and her lyrics are poetic. I can listen to her anytime.

AMAZING. I love most of the songs on this album! More artists like her should be more popular instead of disney stars.

If the character of Marissa Cooper from The O.C. were to make an album this would be it. They both embody “The Romantic” archetype to the maxx. I give both the Born to Die studio album and the Paradise EP an A- http://drownedinsound.com/releases/17344/reviews/4145754 http://www.robertchristgau.com/get_artist.php?name=Lana+Del+Rey

Born to Lose, Born to Run, Born to Die. An iconic American artist, the Bruce Springsteen of her generation, but funny. A visionary for those who get it.

Her lyrics are a gas, I can't believe what she comes out with. Lana seems to slide around with the notes a little and sometimes they come out a fraction on the low side, a semi flat in other words. I thought to begin with that she was having her voice slowed down on playback to gain a certain effect. but I've seen her sing live and she sounds just the same, so there's no way they were trying that trick, or she'd be out of sync by the end of the song. She appears to be a contralto who can still hit the higher notes and if they pitch corrected her occasional factional semi flat it would likely ruin her sliding voice effects. Del Rey isn't a heart on her sleeve singer and diva fans might find her voice a bit on the numb side but I quite like it. And this is coming from someone who likes blues singers! I find her a rare breath of fresh air from the show boating X-factor type singers and the pitch corrected Katy Perry sound alikes.

LOVE this album! Can't wait for the paradise edition!!

The lyrics are beautiful, and she is such a sweet person. Good music!
